Nun. [These letters (Nun, etc.) are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. By the pen and what the (angels) write (in the Records of men).

Chapter 68 : Surah Al-Qalam – 52 Verses
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
68:2
By the grace of your Lord you (O Muhammad) are not a madman,
68:3
And verily, for you (O Muhammad) will be an endless reward.
68:4
You (O Muhammad) are of the highest noble character.
68:5
Soon you will see – as they will see
68:6
Which of you is the afflicted [by a devil].
Meaning:-
Afflicted: To cause grievous physical or mental suffering to
68:7
Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has gone astray from His way, and He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided.
Meaning:-
Astray: into error, away from the correct path or direction
68:8
So (O Muhammad) obey not the deniers.
68:9
They wish that you should compromise (in religion out of courtesy) with them, so they (too) would compromise with you.
68:10
And obey not everyone who swears much, and is considered worthless,
68:11
A slanderer, going about with calumnies,
Meaning:
Slanderer: a false, spoken statement about someone which damages that person’s reputation, or the making of such a statement:
calumnies:the making of false and defamatory statements in order to damage someone’s reputation; slander.
68:12
opponent of good, transgressor,
Transgressor: a person who is actually breaking the law, offend; sin.
68:13
wicked oppressor, and above all, ignoble by birth,
Meaning:-
Wicked: evil or morally wrong.
Ignoble: dishonorable, unworthy, shameful.
68:14
It is because he is possessed of wealth and children
68:15
When Our revelations (Verses of the Quran) are recited to him , he says: “They are nothing but the tales of the ancient.”
Meaning:-
Ancient: from a long time ago, an old person.
68:16
We shall brand him over the nose!
68:17
Verily, We have tried them as We tried the people of the garden, when they swore to pluck the fruits of the (garden) in the morning,
68:18
Without saying: Insha’ Allah (If Allah will).
68:19
So a calamity from your Lord came down upon it (garden) while they slept,
Meaning:-
Calamity: an event causing great and often sudden damage or distress; a disaster.
68:20
So the (garden) became black by the morning, like a pitch dark night (in complete ruins).
68:21
Then they called out one to another as soon as the morning broke,
68:22
Saying: Run unto your field if ye would pluck (the fruit).
68:23
So they went, whispering to one another:
Meaning:-
Whispering: to say something very quietly, using the breath but not the voice:
68:24
“Let no needy person enter upon you in the garden today.”
68:25
And they went in the morning with strong intention, thinking that they have power (to prevent the poor taking anything of the fruits therefrom).
68:26
But when they saw the garden, they cried: “Surely we must have lost our way!
68:27
“Indeed we are shut out (of the fruits of our labour)!”
68:28
The most upright among them said: “Did I not tell you to glorify Allah? Why did you not glorify Him?”
68:29
Then they said: “Glory be to our Lord! Surely we were unjust,”
68:30
and they started blaming one another.
68:31
They said, “O woe to us; indeed we were transgressors.
Meaning:-
Woe: great sorrow or distress.
Transgressors: a person who is actually breaking the law, offend; sin.
68:32
We hope that our Lord will give us in exchange a better (garden) than this. Truly, we turn to our Lord (wishing for good that He may forgive our sins, and reward us in the Hereafter).”
68:33
Such is the punishment in this life; but the punishment in the Hereafter is even greater, if they but knew it.
68:34
Surely the righteous will be rewarded with gardens of delight by their Lord.
68:35
Then will We treat the Muslims like the criminals?
68:36
What is the matter with you? What kind of judgement do you make?
68:37
Or have you a Book through which you learn.
68:38
that you shall be given whatever you choose?
68:39
Or you have oaths from Us, reaching to the Day of Resurrection that yours will be what you judge.
68:40
Ask them (O Muhammad) which of them, for that [claim], is responsible.
68:41
Or do they have other gods who could help them against Allah? If so, let them produce their other gods if they are truthful.
68:42
(Remember) the Day when the Shin shall be laid bare (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) and they shall be called to prostrate (to Allah), but they (hypocrites) shall not be able to do so,
Meaning:-
Prostrate: lying stretched out on the ground with one’s face downward, especially in reverence or submission.
Hypocrite: a person who puts on a false appearance of virtue or religion.
68:43
They shall stand with eyes downcast, utterly humbled; because during their safe and sound earthly life they were called upon to prostrate themselves but they refused to do so.
Meaning:-
Prostrate: lying stretched out on the ground with one’s face downward, especially in reverence or submission.
68:44
O Prophet [O Muhammad], leave to Me those who reject this revelation. We shall lead them step by step to their ruin, in ways that they cannot perceive.
Meaning:-
Perceive: become aware or conscious of (something); come to realize or understand.
68:45
And I will give them time. Indeed, My plan is firm.
68:46
Or have you, O Prophet (O Muhammad), demanded a compensation from them, that they are overburdened with debt?
68:47
Or that the unseen (unseen here in this Verse it means Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz) is in their hands, so that they can write it down?

68:48
So wait with patience for the Judgement of your Lord and be not like the man of the fish (reference is to the Prophet Jonah who was swallowed by a whale), who cried when he was in distress. (See the Quran, Verse 21:87).
68:49
Had not a Grace from his Lord reached him, he would indeed have been (left in the stomach of the fish, but We forgave him), so he was cast off on the naked shore, while he was to be blamed.
68:50
But his Lord choose him and included him among the righteous.
Meaning:-
Righteous: (of a person or conduct) morally right or justifiable; virtuous, very good; excellent.
68:51
And verily, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes through hatredness when they hear the Reminder (the Quran), and they say: “Verily, he (Muhammad) is a madman!”
Meaning:-
Hatred: an extremely strong feeling of dislike
68:52
This (The Qur’an) is nothing but a Reminder to all the people of the world.
