Chapter 67 : Al-Mulk – 30 Verses
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
67:2
The One Who created death and life, so that He may put you to test, to find out which of you is best in deeds: He is the All-Mighty, the All-Forgiving.
67:3
Who has created the seven heavens one above another, you can see no fault in the creations of the Most Beneficent. Then look again: “Can you see any flaw?”
Meaning:-
Flaw: fault, imperfection, defect.
67:4
Then turn back the eye again and again; your look shall come back to you confused while it is fatigued.
Meaning:-
Fatigue: exhaust, drain.
67:5
And We have certainly beautified the nearest heaven with stars and have made [from] them what is thrown at the devils and have prepared for them the punishment of the Blaze.
Meaning:-
Blaze: a very large or fiercely burning fire.
67:6
And for those who disbelieve in their Lord (Allah) is the punishment of Hell, and worst indeed is that destination.
67:7
When they are thrown into it, they hear from it a [terrible] inhaling while it boils up.
Meaning:-
Inhaling: breathe in.
67:8
as though bursting with rage. Every time a group is plunged therein, its guards will ask: “Did not a Warner come to you?”
Meaning:-
Rage: violent, uncontrollable anger.
plunged: jump or dive quickly and energetically.
67:9
They will answer: “Yes indeed, a Warner did come to us, but we rejected him and said, Allah has revealed nothing – You are not but in great error. “
67:10
They will further say: “Had we only listened or used our intelligence, we would have not been among the inmates of the blazing fire.”
Meaning:-
Inmates: prisoners, resident.
Blaze: a very large or fiercely burning fire.
67:11
Thus shall they confess their sin; so away from the mercy of Allah will be the dwellers of hell.
Meaning:-
Dwellers: to live or stay as a permanent resident; reside.
67:12
As for those who fear their Lord unseen, for them is Forgiveness and a great Reward.
67:13
And whether you keep your talk secret or disclose it, verily, He is the All-Knower of what is in the breasts (of men).
67:14
Would He not know, Who has created them? He is the Knower of finest mysteries, and aware of everything.
67:15
He it is, Who has made the earth subservient to you (i.e. easy for you to walk, to live and to do agriculture on it, etc.), so walk in the path thereof and eat of His provision, and to Him will be the Resurrection.
Meaning:-
Subservient: submissive and functions in a subordinate capacity.
67:16
Do ye feel secure that He Who is in heaven will not cause you to be swallowed up by the earth when it shakes (as in an earthquake)?
67:17
Or do you feel secure that He Who is in heaven will not send against you a violent tornado, then you shall know how was My warning!
67:18
And already had those before them denied, and how [terrible] was My reproach.
67:19
Do they not see the birds above them, spreading out their wings and folding them in? None upholds them except the Most Beneficent (Allah). Indeed He is, of all things, Seeing.
67:20
What force is there that can help you besides the Compassionate? In fact, the unbelievers are suffering from delusion.
Meaning:-
Delusion: misconception, error, misbelief, illusion.
67:21
Who is he that can provide for you if He should withhold His provision? Nay, but they continue to be in pride, and (they) flee (from the truth).
67:22
Just think, who is rightly guided: he who walks with his face bent down, or he who walks properly on an even path?
67:23
Say: “It is He Who has brought you into being, gave you the faculties of hearing, seeing, feeling and understanding: yet you are seldom thankful.”
Meaning:-
Faculty: power, capability.
Seldom: almost never, not often; rarely.
67:24
Say: “It is He Who has created you from the earth, and to Him shall you be gathered (in the Hereafter).”
67:25
They ask: “When will this promise (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) be fulfilled, if what you say is true?”
67:26
Say (O Muhammad): “The knowledge (of its exact time) is with Allah only, and I am only a plain warner.”
67:27
But when they will see it (the torment on the Day of Resurrection) approaching, the faces of those who disbelieve will be different (black, sad, and in grieve), and it will be said (to them): “This is (the promise) which you were calling for!”
Meaning:-
Torment: severe physical or mental suffering.
67:28
Further say: “Have you ever considered that even if Allah destroys me as well as those with me or bestows His mercy on us; who will save the disbelievers from a painful punishment?”
Meaning:-
Bestow: an honor, right, or gift
67:29
Say: “He is the Compassionate: in Him we have believed, and in Him we have put our trust. Soon you will find out, which one of us is in the manifest error.”
Meaning:-
Manifest: to make clear or obvious to the eye or mind or the understanding; show plainly
67:30
Say (O Muhammad): “Have you ever considered that if all the water you have, sink down in the ground, who is it, that will bring you the clear-flowing water?”
